Event rescheduled to August 27th due to unforseen weather conditions. We look forward to seeing you there.
Youghal Medieval Festival is a free family fun day with falconry, workshops, food and craft fairs, battle siege re-enactments and plenty of other educational activities for all ages.
Taking place in the Raleigh Quarter area of Youghal, the festival usually coincides with celebrations of National Irish Walled Towns day and takes part during heritage week.
Youghal Medieval Festival aims to bring heritage to life and caters for the entire family. Kids can enjoy the Kids’ Kingdom, face painting, shield and mask painting, magician shows and the Dowtcha Puppets, where children have the opportunity to learn about history in a lighthearted and enjoyable manner. Ron the potter teaches children how to make pots, which they can then decorate and bring home.
A highlight is the medieval re-enactments, where re-enactors from the White Horse Living Society spend the day interacting with young and old alike as they carry out medieval fight scenes and other displays that thrill the crowds.
Immerse yourself in history and take a guided tour of St Mary’s Collegiate Medieval Church, host to the Model of Youghal Medieval Town and the Pop up Museum. Follow the Graveyard Trail and take in the view of the town from the viewing platform.
