Privacy Statement
Last updated: 6 August 2026
This statement explains how personal data is handled when you use the Ring of Cork website, contact us, subscribe to updates, create or use an account, or submit information for possible publication.
Who we are
Ring of Cork is a tourism initiative supported and delivered by SECAD Partnership CLG. SECAD Partnership CLG, operating the Ring of Cork initiative, is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.
You can contact us about privacy at info@ringofcork.ie, or write to SECAD Partnership CLG, Midleton Community Enterprise Centre, Owenacurra Business Park, Knockgriffin, Midleton, Co. Cork, P25 Y893.
Personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may collect:
- your name, email address and message when you use the contact form;
- your email address and subscription preferences when you sign up for news and event updates;
- account details and information you provide through member, listing or event-submission facilities, including event descriptions, dates, locations, images and contact details;
- correspondence and information supplied when you ask a question, report an error or exercise a data-protection right;
- technical and security information such as IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, requested pages, error logs and cookie-consent choices; and
- analytics or interaction information collected through non-essential cookies where you have consented.
Please do not include unnecessary personal data, sensitive information, or information about another person in a public listing or event submission unless you are authorised to provide it.
Why we use personal data and our lawful bases
We use personal data to respond to enquiries; manage subscriptions; review, administer and publish approved listings or events; provide member and account functions; operate, secure and improve the website; prevent misuse; maintain records; and meet legal obligations.
Depending on the activity, we rely on your consent, steps taken at your request before providing a service, our legitimate interests in operating and promoting the Ring of Cork tourism initiative, or compliance with a legal obligation. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
Newsletter and communications
The footer newsletter form sends subscription information to Mailchimp. We use it to send Ring of Cork news, events and related tourism updates where you have consented. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us. We may keep a minimal suppression record so that we respect an unsubscribe request.
Listings and event submissions
Information submitted for a listing or event may be reviewed by Ring of Cork staff and, if approved, published on the website. Published information can be viewed and copied by other internet users and may be indexed by search engines. Submit only business or event contact details that are suitable for public display. We may retain moderation and publication records to manage the service and resolve queries.
Cookies, analytics and embedded services
Strictly necessary technologies may be used to operate and secure the website. Analytics, marketing or other non-essential cookies should only be used after the required consent. You can find more detail and manage your choices through our Cookie Policy and the website’s cookie controls.
The website may include maps, videos, social-media links, translation services and other content supplied by third parties. Opening or using those services may allow the provider to receive technical information under its own privacy terms.
Who we share data with
We may share personal data only where necessary with trusted providers that support website hosting, maintenance, security, email delivery, newsletter management, analytics, consent management and other website functions. We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect legal rights or security, or as part of a properly managed organisational change.
We do not sell personal data. A listing or event submission may be published where that is the purpose for which it was provided.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we will use an available lawful transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards, and apply appropriate protections.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution requirements. Retention therefore varies by activity: enquiries are kept while they are being handled and for an appropriate follow-up period; newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or consent is otherwise withdrawn; and listing, event and account records may be kept while active and for an appropriate archive or administration period afterwards.
Security
We use appropriate organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal data. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending confidential or sensitive information through ordinary website forms or email unless necessary.
Your data-protection rights
Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, you may ask for access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Send requests to info@ringofcork.ie. You also have the right to raise a concern with Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
Children
This website is intended as a general tourism information service and is not designed to collect personal data directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, please contact us.
Automated decisions
We do not use personal data submitted through this website to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
External websites
Links to accommodation providers, attractions, event organisers and other third parties take you to services that Ring of Cork does not control. Review the privacy information provided by those organisations before giving them personal data.
Changes and contact
We may update this statement when website services, suppliers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page. For questions, corrections or privacy requests, email info@ringofcork.ie or use our Contact page.
