The Mall Arts Centre in collaboration with the National String Quartet Foundation presents THE VANBRUGH Keith Pascoe, violin Simon Aspell, viola Christopher Marwood, cello with Macdara Ó Seiradáin, clarinet Siun Milne, violin MOZART Clarinet Quintet in A major K.581 [1789] BRAHMS Clarinet Quintet in B minor Op.115 [1891] This is a rare opportunity to hear the two great classical works written for the combination of clarinet and string quartet in the same concert. The Vanbrugh is delighted to welcome two distinguished guest artists for this special event.
The Vanbrugh has evolved from the work of the Vanbrugh Quartet which was based in Cork as RTE’s Resident Quartet from 1986 to 2013. Over three decades the quartet gave close to three thousand concerts, presenting the chamber music repertoire to audiences throughout Ireland, Europe, the Americas, and the
Far East. Commercial recordings include more than thirty CDs of repertoire ranging from the complete Beethoven quartets to many contemporary Irish works. In 2016 the group was presented with the National Concert Hall’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their contribution to music in Ireland. Siún Milne has performed with a variety of ensembles throughout her career including the Royal Academy of Music Baroque Soloists at Wigmore Hall, Kirkos Ensemble, European Union Chamber Orchestra, Arensky Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, Musici Ireland and the London Concertante.
She plays regularly with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and has performed with renowned soloists such as Tabea Zimmerman, Igor Levit, Elizabeth Leonskaja and Jörg Widmann at Zürich Tonhalle, Heidelberg Frühlingsfest, Wiener Konzerthaus, Würzburg Mozart Fest, Storioni Festival Eindhoven, Rheingau Festival, Lincoln Centre New York and Konzerthaus Berlin. Macdara Ó Seireadáin won the inaugural Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year competition and has performed as a featured soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Uelzen Kammerorchester amongst others.
Macdara performs regularly with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Staatsoper Hannover, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, and is a currently under contract with Philharmonisches Orchester Kiel in Germany. A keen chamber musician, he has performed with John O’Conor, Ailish Tynan, Johannes Peitz, Sharon Kam, Finghin Collins, and the Apollon Musagete Quartet and performed at numerous chamber music festivals including Great Music in Irish Houses, Fredener Musiktage, and Killaloe Chamber Music Festival. www.nsqf.ie VANBRUGH Keith
