Following the tremendously successful run of Sean O’Casey’s ’The Shadow of a gunman’ last November, Harmony takes another look back at post rising Ireland – this time through the eyes of another astute observer – John B Keane, an by kind permission of the Drama League of Ireland, proudly presents ‘ManyYoung Men of Twenty’ at the Mall Arts Centre on Tuesday 2nd August for Four Nights (8.00pm)
John B Keane’s brillant comedy, ‘Many Young Men of Twenty’, is at once hilarious,hard-hitting and deeply moving. It is set in 1960, (in a town ‘somewhere in Southern ireland), yet its themes are very familiar to us ; the loneliness of the migrant and the single parent , the warmth and wit of the common people, the enduring courage of humanity, giving hope for the future. It has to be John B Keanes most entertaining play with sixteen colourful characters singing ,dancing, fighting and loving their way through a great story, worthy of the maestro at his best. Directed by Finbar Hannon, with top- class cast, authentic costuming and set decor by Laura Murphy this promises to be a wonderful production and a great night out!
