Johnny McEvoy, Ballymaloe Grainstore, 13 March 2015
Ballymaloe Grainstore welcomes Johnny McEvoy for his first-ever concert appearance in the East Cork venue on Friday 13 March at 8pm.
This nostalgic evening of song and story features all of Johnny’s many hit songs, including Mursheen Durkin, The Boston Burglar, Those Brown Eyes, and Long Before Your Time. His songs are haunting, evocative and beautifully presented in folk and ballad style.
Johnny McEvoy has been one of Ireland’s most enduring and talented singer-songwriters since he released his first hit single in 1966. His concert performances are second to none, with his songs beautifully delivered in truly artistic fashion and storytelling of the finest order.
“I consider myself most fortunate as my singing has brought me to many places in the world, places I would never have dreamed of seeing,” says Johnny. “I have seen the cold lands of Northern Canada, been stranded in blizzards throughout the U.S., stood on the burning sands of the Persian Gulf, and sung my songs beneath the warm sun of Spain. I have witnessed the beginning and the ending of the Cold War, shuddered at the atrocities of 9/11 and rejoiced at the coming of peace to Northern Ireland. Throughout all these experiences, both my writing and singing have been with me through the good and bad.”
Johnny’s first studio album in ten years, ‘Basement Sessions,’ is now on sale.
Tickets for An Evening with Johnny McEvoy on Friday 13 March are €25 and may be booked online at www.ballymaloegrainstore.com or by phone on 021 465 1555.
