Exhibition of illustrations & Portraits by Grace Murray & Thecla Cronin

A joint exhibition of charcoal portraits by Thecla Cronin and mixed media and digital illustrations by Grace Murray will open in Cronin’s Pub and the Mad Fish Restaurant, Crosshaven this coming Tuesday, 14 March at 8pm. The exhibition is a vivid contrast of two very unique and distinctive styles and will run for six weeks until April 23. It is the first in a series of local and Irish artists work in the popular seaside pub and restaurant.

Grace Murray is an award winning illustrator based in Cork City. She graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 2016 where she got her BA Honours degree in Visual Communications.  Following her final year project she was shortlisted for an IDI award and went on to win the award in the illustration category. Her work captures her personality and charm while taking inspiration from a wide range of areas such as pop culture and nature, allowing her work to constantly explore new themes and image making techniques.

Thecla Cronin, of Cronin’s Pub has long put her creative energy into the cooking and food side of the business. She finished her art teaching degree in her native country, the Netherlands in 1976. After many years, she has returned to drawing and painting, and under the guidance of local artist Kerry Collins has been focusing her recent work on charcoal portraiture.

Cronin’s Pub are home to many other creative and cultural events in Crosshaven, including their popular “Sunday Sessions” weekly music performances, a monthly arthouse and classic film club and a bi-weekly knitting group. The pub is open daily for lunch and bar food with the Mad Fish Restaurant open Thursday – Saturday evenings.
