Eddi Reader at Ballymaloe

The internationally acclaimed Scottish songstress, Eddi Reader, returns to the Grainstore after sold-out shows in 2014, 2015 and 2016.   Irish audiences keep clamouring for more of the enigmatic singer, resulting in her ninth annual Irish tour.

With a career spanning over three decades, Eddi Reader has developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers.  Having first hit the limelight in the 1980s with the group Fairground Attraction (who enjoyed huge chart success with their debut No. 1 single Perfect and album First of a Million Kisses), Eddi went on to collaborate on many celebrated projects throughout the years, famously harmonising with Annie Lennox while touring with the Eurythmics and paying her punk dues with a successful stint in the group Gang of Four. However it has been Eddi’s subsequent solo albums that have cemented her image as a powerful figure in British music.

With an MBE for outstanding contributions to the arts, 3 BRIT awards, a No. 1 single and eight critically acclaimed solo albums, what sets Eddi apart is the depth and quality of the emotional performance and ability not only to move the listener, but to connect her experience to that of her audience. With beautifully raw vocals and an unparalleled romanticism, Eddi continues to captivate and inspire audiences from her own native Scotland to the UK, Japan, Canada, Australia and Europe and is considered to be “one of Scotland’s greatest national treasures” The Scotsman.

Eddi will perform with John Douglas and Boo Hewerdine on guitars, Alan Kelly on piano accordion and Kevin McGuire on double bass.

Ballymaloe House offers pre-performance dinner at 6pm. Please ring 021 465 2531 for reservations.
