Degrees of Separation

Walter Raleigh Hotel
16 September

A wonderful night to examine the degrees of separation which link Youghal to 1916 – like the young Scottish soldier in the King;s Liverpool Regiment who enlists under a false name but becomes the James Connolly we all know, or the Handsome young army major with a talent for sketching who did a series of portraits of Roger Casement in the Tower of London, or the Helga – a nvay vessel in 1916 in Dublin which is later used by the forces of Michael Collins to take over Youghal in the Civil War , or the story of young Eric Hodges who was killed in the Battle of the Somme.

His father was Rector of St.Mary’s in Youghal
