Gay Byrne, one of the most loved television and radio personalities in Irish history will perform his show, Gay Byrne – Live on Stage, in Ballymaloe Grainstore, Shanagarry, Co. Cork, on Thursday 14 March at 8pm.

It is Gay’s only Cork date for the show that The Irish Times calls “exhilarating…superb…ingenious…a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”

Following sell-out shows last year, this is an exclusive chance to enjoy Gay Byrne at his best in a live performance telling some of the greatest show-biz stories never told in a hilarious evening’s entertainment, described as “a master class in comedy”.

In his five-decade broadcasting career, Gay Byrne hosted The Late Late Show from 1962 to 1999 and was the first presenter to ever interview the Beatles on TV.  He is recognized as the man who changed Ireland, both on his RTÉ morning radio show and the weekly Late Late where he introduced Ireland to modernity – and stood back to witness the brawl.

From senior politicians to senior clergy to the brightest stars in the Hollywood firmament, he has been a confessor figure to the good, the bad and the ugly. At 77, he’s now in happy semi-retirement but during his exhilarating two-hour plus show, he talks about all the extraordinary moments he has witnessed or been at the centre of.

Listen to the behind-the-scenes stories of the stars and the star-makers with Ireland’s foremost legendary broadcaster in his first solo stage show.

Gay’s performance in Ballymaloe Grainstore is part of a spring season of performances taking place right through to 12 May.  Upcoming shows in the 300-seat venue located twenty miles east of Cork City include Silent, the acclaimed one-man show by Cobh native Pat Kinevane on Thu 7 March; I Hear You Calling Me: The Story Of Count John McCormack on Sun 17 March; Sharon Shannon on Sun 31 March; The Fureys and Davey Arthur on Sun 7 April; Brendan Shine on Sun 14 April; Blaze Away! The Incredible Story Of Josef Locke on Sun 21 April; and An Evening With Cara O’Sullivan on Sun 12 May.

Tickets for Gay Byrne – Live on Stage on Thursday 14 March are €23 and can be booked on www.ballymaloegrainstore.com or by phone on 021-4651555 (subject to booking fee). Packages for pre-show dinner and accommodation in Ballymaloe House are available for all performances – bookings by phone only.
