The Orpheus Choir and The Munster Youth Choir Concert

The Orpheus Choir, Co. Cork with its Musical Director Hilary Reynolds, are delighted to be returning to Youghal to perform in a fund-raising concert to support the RNLI Youghal Lifeboat Station and Youghal Community Bus. The choir’s first visit in 2011 was to the Mary Collegiate Church, but this time the concert will be held next door to the Lifeboat Station in The Mall Arts Centre.

The Orpheus Choir is an adult, mixed-voiced, regional, community choir based in Fermoy, that sing a highly varied programme of  folk, classical and contemporary choral music. It was formed in 2005 and has members hailing from North and East Cork to West Waterford. Since its inaugural concert at the opening of the 2007 North Cork Classical Music Festival, it has given many very successful concerts in and around Fermoy, amongst others, Cappoquin, Castlelyons, Castletownroche, Conna, Kildorrery, Kilworth, Knockanore and Mitchelstown and in 2015 celebrated its 10th. Anniversary with an Opera Gala Concert in St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork City.

Mixed with iconic and much-loved Irish folk melodies in scintillating fresh choral arrangements, The Orpheus Choir under the direction of Hilary Reynolds, will also be bringing contemporary music from American composers together with Hilary’s newly-formed Munster Youth Choir. As special guest, an instrumental soloist of high calibre will join them, providing a highly varied and entertaining evening of music.
