Mary Elmes 1908 – 2002 The Irish Schlindler! Yes but much more?
Glanmire Community Centre2:30 PM - 2:30 PM
23 August
The story of Mary Elmes only came to light recently, when 2 books were published about her, and a TG4 documentary was screened. This extraordinary Cork woman saved many lives during the Spanish Civil War and World War 1, and was awarded a medal by the State of Israel in 2014 (Oskar Schlindler received a similar award).
Glanmire Heritage Society is privileged to have her cousin, Mark Elmes to present a talk on her amazing story at Glanmire Community Centre on Thursday 23rd August at 2.30pm. All welcome.
