Fota House Proudly presents CORK LIGHT ORCHESTRA

♫ Bringing Alive the Music You Love ♫

The Cork Light Orchestra (CLO) makes an acclaimed return to Fota House on Friday 17th November 2017. It will play a selection of its light instrumental repertoire, which is inspired by the salon, jazz and light orchestras of the 1920s and 30s. Audiences often sing along to well known hits of more recent years. They may even be seen waltzing to Viennese classics and jiving to pop medleys! One concert goer was overheard saying "they play music we all know and love but do not hear often enough.

The CLO has had a busy year playing at festivals in Ballymaloe House and Mallow Castle, on the Bandstand in Cobh, in Doneraile Park, at various Farmers’ Markets and in Cork City Gaol for Culture Night, in addition to various private events.

The Orchestra was formed by a group of enthusiastic amateur and semi-professional musicians who had varying experience of other musical settings. Their Musical Director is well known cellist Ilse de Ziah. She has conducted the group for over two years, and arranged a number of pieces which highlight the Orchestra’s unique instrumentation.

Celebrated Soprano Amanda Neri will join the Cork Light Orchestra at its much anticipated Concert in Fota House

The event is finished.
