BALLYMALOE MALT & MUSIC WEEKEND IN THE BIG SHED
Headline Acts Little Green Cars and Jerry Fish
Friday 30 June, Saturday 1 July, Sunday 2 July
Shanagarry, County Cork, Ireland – Ballymaloe Grainstore announces the first-ever Ballymaloe Malt & Music Weekend on the weekend of Friday 30 June, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July. It will be held under the shelter of The Big Shed on the grounds of Ballymaloe House in Shanagarry, East Cork.
The Malt & Music Weekend will showcase some of the best Irish bands at work today, both established and emerging. Headline acts are Little Green Cars on Saturday 1 July at 9pm and Jerry Fish on Friday 30 June at 8pm.
The line-up also includes Hurricane Highway whose new album, Exposed, hit No. 1 on the Irish Country charts; upcoming R&B/hip-hop band Shookrah; ‘transatlantic soul’ act The Niall McCabe Band; audience favourite Hank Wedel with his five-piece band; alt-roots/blues band One Horse Pony; burlesque performer Foxy P. Cox; and a Soul Funktion set by DJ Dr. Quigley.
Beer aficionados can savour a selection from the many impressive artisan brewers raising the bar across Ireland by producing finely-crafted beers based on local ingredients. Among the craft brewers attending are Lough Gill; 12 Acres; Blacks of Kinsale; Stonewell Cider; 8 Degrees; Rascals; Arthurstown; 9 White Deer. A selection of boutique Irish gins and whiskies will also be on hand from distillers such as St. Patrick’s Distilling.
And as one would expect from any event at Ballymaloe, there will be a bounty of stands offering varied and delicious food options from Friday evening at 7pm right through to Sunday at 8pm.
All events take place under the cover of the rustic and welcoming Big Shed, so rain or shine won’t matter – though fingers are crossed for sunshine.
Craft beers are a big part of the weekend, but the Ballymaloe Malt & Music Weekend is a family-friendly event. Children under 12 are admitted free with an adult and are welcome until 9pm. There will be a dedicated children’s area where the little ones can engage in The Brickx Club, a LEGO® building and social activity club for children aged 4 to 12. It runs on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 5pm and costs €2 per child per hour.
Tickets range from €10 for a Sunday ticket to €56 for an all-weekend pass. See www.ballymaloefestivals.ie for a complete schedule and to book.
Parking is free. There is no camping – this is not an overnight event. All events are wheelchair accessible.
