Ballycotton Seafood & Shanty Festival Family Fun Day
There is no BATTER oppa-TUNA-ty for an article full of rEELy awful fish puns to let everyone know that Ballycotton Pier is the PLAICE to be this Sunday 2nd June of the Bank Holiday weekend between 2 – 5 pm for the Ballycotton Seafood & Shanty Festival Family Fun Day. But SEAriously, it is always BRILL-iant FIN, so after 7 years we are confident we do not need to CARP on too much. For CODS sake, save the date!
NEW to our 2019 program is an 11 am Beach Clean at Ballynamona Beach with special guest Flossie and The Beach Cleaners and Cleaner Coasts Ballynamona. Join Flossie and Cleaner Coasts for a one hour beach clean and enter an art competition using your beach rubbish. Upload the images and bag up the rubbish (litter picking equipment will be provided). FIN-tastic prizes available from Trabolgan Holiday Village including a top prize of an off-peak family break for up to 5 people and family day passes (T&C apply).
As usual between 2 – 5 pm Ballycotton pier will become a sea of old-fashioned family fun, including entertainment from Junior Einstein, an illusionist, caricaturist and balloon artist and a delicious variety of food stalls. Fishy food inspiration from RACHEL ALLEN and ARUN KAPIL as they demonstrate something delicious at the pier side demo space, with fresh fish kindly sponsored by Ballycotton Seafood.
The end of the pier this year is a sea of tasty food stalls serving everything from PIER 26 Fish and Chips to Sushi, Kebabs, Lobster, Pizza, Crepes, Green Saffron curry, freshly baked cakes and more.. and delicious refreshments from Golden Bean Coffee and the Ballycotton National School.
Plenty of old fashioned children’s entertainment available with arts and crafts with ECO PASTI, Glitter braiding, and the offer of a FREE ICE CREAM for all visiting little PIRATES and MERMAIDS. Make an extra effort with your maritime-themed costumes because the costume judges will be out, and spot prizes awarded to the most convincing pirates, mermaids or sea creatures.
DJ MOSSIE will keep you up to date with what is happening on the day and the School of Uke will begin the afternoon of musical entertainment from 2 pm followed by DUFFY’s CUT on the pier from 2.30pm – dancing and busking is encouraged.
