Finín’s Restaurant, Midleton
Finin O’Sullivan’s thriving bar and restaurant in the centre of Midleton town has long been a popular place for locals to meet for a drink and to eat some good wholesome food. The entrance is bright and cheery, painted in pillarbox red and white, and the theme is continued inside, where black topped tables are simply set up with the basics needed for a meal. This attractive, no-nonsense place offers a wide range of popular home-made dishes, mostly based on local produce notably fresh seafood from Ballycotton and harbour steaks, also old favourites like a well-made Irish Stew; evening menus are more extensive and include some more specialities including roast duckling. Good short wine list.
FinÍn O’Sullivan, a native of West Cork set up a restaurant on the main street in Midleton more than 40 years ago and has been there ever since. He has weathered two recessions and survived the Celtic Tiger retaining the character and charm that both locals and visitors know and love.
He attributes his longevity to the very strong relationships he has built up with his loyal customers, staff and suppliers who have been with him for many years. He prides himself on serving consistently good food, sourced locally from recipes that he has tried and tested and that his customers have come to rely on.
FinÍn’s is a family run restaurant with many of the staff there since it opened and with FinÍn’s family working alongside him. His personality is evident in his collection of beautiful Irish artwork around the walls which lets you know you really are in an extension of the family home.
FinÍn’s has a full bar license and opens all day from 10.30 am through lunch and dinner. We close on Sundays to take a little rest.
