Details: On 10 December 1928, the White Star Liner RMS Celtic ran aground at the mouth of Cork Harbour. Initial efforts to refloat her were unsuccessful, she was declared a wreck and eventually broken up in situ. In this illustrated lecture historian Marita Foster will describe the last voyage of the Celtic, the salvage operation and the tragic events of November 1929 which led to the death of a number of men working on the wreck.
