Music in Community presents Summer Concert Series at Fota Wildlife Park

Music in Community presents a Summer Concert Series in Fota Wildlife Park featuring a quartet from the Brandy Lane Orchestra with vocalists Aine Whelan or Keeva O’Mahony. The orchestra will perform a range of genres from well-known pop to rock anthems all of which have been given a classical twist in the relaxed atmosphere of the Park. Feel free to bring a picnic or a coffee, drop by if you are in the Park that day. Free with entry/admission. Music in Community is a Cork based organisation founded in 2014 to bring communities closer together, they deliver regular programmes in the Westgate Foundation and Marymount Hospice.

Thursday 9th August

Each concert takes place from 12 noon to 3 pm. Weather permitting the concerts will take place outdoors at Cypress Lawn and promises to be a wonderful musical treat for all visitors to the Park, bring your picnic basket and make a day of it at Fota Wildlife Park this summer.

Brandy Lane Orchestra provides professional groups for a variety of public and private functions. They have performed at the Lusitania Commemoration Ceremony and concert which was attended by the President Michael D. Higgins, they have also performed at the Classics in the Park series of concerts in Fitzgerald’s Park, they also performed at a series of concerts at Camden Fort.

For these concerts a quartet from the orchestra will be performing works on their own and accompanying the soloists.

Áine Whelan is a vocalist who has toured throughout USA, Canada, Europe, UK and Ireland with international artists encompassing popular music, rock, country, folk and roots, jazz and musical theatre. She has twenty years experience of live performance and studio recording with artists such as Van Morrison, Nick Lowe, Donovan, Sharon Corr, Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Storm and Brian Kennedy.

Keeva O’Mahony is a vocalist currently studying for her masters in Performance (Voice) at the CIT School of music under the direction of Mary MacSweeney. Keeva has performed at Lismore Opera Festival, Ballymaloe Grainstore, CIT Stack Theatre and other venues around Ireland. Keeva has performed in the Cork Operatic Society presentations of ‘Der Vampyr’ and ‘Faust’ in the Everyman and most recently in La Boheme at the Opera House Cork.
As a Violinist, Keeva has performed at the National Concert Hall, City Hall Cork, and internationally.
