Fota: Into the Wild

A new four-part television programme  called – Fota: Into the Wild is a new documentary series about Fota Wildlife Park, presented by Andrea Hayes, commencing on Virgin Media One Television from Sunday the 2nd of February at 8pm.

The series follows Fota’s animal Rangers as they care for and protect many of the species – from birth all the way through to maturity and was filmed by Red Pepper Productions over a period of two years.  The first programme broadcast on Sunday 2nd February featured three  Asiatic lion cubs, the first to be born in Fota; and a journey to Madagascar to observe some of the world’s most endangered lemurs in the wild.

In this episode of ‘Into the Wild’, Fota gets covered in a white wintery blanket, and the programme will  follow in the steps of the Fota-born bison deep in the Romanian forest also a pair of Red Pandas, Koda and Lionel,  prepare for life away from the Park.

The third programme of ‘Into the Wild’ is mainly dedicated to FOTA’s on-going conservation work in Ireland, inside and outside of the boundaries of its 100 acre Park. This episode also introduces four newly-born cheetah cubs.  Fota’s cheetah breeding programme has been very successful with over 220 cubs born since 1985.

In the final episode of ‘Into the Wild’, the Park’s Director Sean McKeown travels to Madagascar to familiarise himself with some of the global conservation project Fota supports and the programme  follows the journey of 6 month old Sumatran Tiger Dharma and see her transform from cub to majestic adult.
