Free: Hands-only Adult/Child CPR Awareness Day

In Ireland 13 people die every day from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We have one of the highest rates in Europe of attempting bystander CPR, yet our survival rates are less than 7% (as compared to Seattle where they are almost 40%) and this is due mainly to lack of proper training in CPR on the part of the public.
Carrigaline Community First Responders are running a Free CPR Awareness and Training day on Sunday 15th April 2018 from 10.00am to 6.00pm in the Carrigaline Court Hotel.
The main aim of this event is to provide Free Hands only CPR Training to as many of the public as possible on the day. It is also to raise the awareness of the importance of providing immediate assistance in the event of Cardiac Arrest, in the form of excellent quality Compression’s.
To help us provide as much training as possible on the day we have assistance from Order of Malta-Carrigaline, Irish Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Civil Defence, Coastguard, Irish Heart Foundation, local community first responder (CFR) groups from Ballygarvan CFR, Passage & Monkstown CFR, Carrigtwohill CFR, Ballincollig CFR, Cork City CFR, Kinsale CFR, Cobh/Great island CFR.
We have received outstanding support from the National Ambulance Service, The Irish Heart Foundation and The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) have given assistance and information leaflets which will be available on the day.
Training stations will also run every 30mins throughout the day and they will cover Adult, Infant and Child CPR and Choking.
As part of the community awareness day the Carrigaline Community First Responder have organised free Health screening for anyone who wishes to avail of it. This screening will be run by qualified nurses and EMTs. It is completely confidential and carried out in a secluded setting.
